Food
The food of Bosnia and Herzegovina is very delicately balanced between eastern and western influences. The type of cuisine is most closely related to the cuisines of Turkey, Middle-Eastern, and a blend of my other fine Mediterranean cuisines.
Cevapi is a Bosnian twist on kebabs with small pieces of grilled lamb and beef sausages served with onions, sour cream, and pita bread
Sarma is a simple but very popular dish in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It consists of meat and rice rolled in cabbage leaves.
Burek is a meat-filled flaky pastry, traditionally rolled in a spiral and cut into sections for serving. The same dish filled with cottage cheese is called sirnica, one with spinach and cheese zeljanica, and one with potatoes krompiruša. All these varieties are generically referred to as pita (Bosnian for "pie").
Baklava is flaky pastry with a nutty filling that is drenched with a very sugary syrup or honey as an addend sweetener
Halva is a dense and sweet confection usually made simply of butter, flour, and sugar and is often pistachio based in the Balkans
